Hello Death is pleased to share a stage again with our Eau Claire friends Adelyn Rose. If you missed them last time they came to town here is your chance for redemption. Also playing are the lovely Softly, Dear.

Thanks to everyone who came out for our video release show.  We had about one hundred fifty people show up and it was a real honor to play to such an attentive crowd and share a stage with Christopher Porterfield.  

In a couple of weeks we get to share a stage with another heartbreaker by the name of Haley Bonar.  If you haven’t heard her please check out her new album and then come on out to Cactus Club.  Jeff Mitchell (formerly of Field Report) will be opening up with a solo performance and I can’t say enough good things about his adept guitar work, emotive voice and stage presence.  We hope to see you there.

Celebrate the release of the new video for the song “Settlers” with a viewing and a live show!  

Hello Death is making a stir in Milwaukee with their challenging harmonies and the raw beauty of their dark folk influenced songs. Comprised of members of local post-rock orchestra Group of the Altos, they bring engaging and emotive performances to every show.  Their new video for “Settlers” is a stunning meditation on life, death and the meanings we create to navigate and understand our lives.  Christopher Porterfield (Field Report) will start the evening with an intimate solo set.

From the future to the past here is the news.

Before the new year we will release a free download of our holiday song “On a Quiet Winter Night.”  This song will be relevant until at least the Vernal Equinox 2014 if not longer.

On December 7th we will play a show at Cactus Club with Twin Brother to celebrate the release of their new EP.  Also performing are friends Old Earth and Ghostnotes.

Shortly after writing a holiday song for the Journal Sentinel’s Holiday Soundcheck series (and only beating their submittal deadline by a matter of hours) we were chosen as one of four bands to perform our original song “on a quiet winter night” live in their studio for Tap Milwaukee.  Afterward we sat down for an interview with Piet Levy.  The video will be available for viewing on Wednesday, print will be out Thursday.

In early November with the help of many talented people we shot a video for “Settlers.”  We’ll be editing for several weeks and are planning a video release show in early spring 2014.  Here are some Photos.

Before all above and continuing into the present we are writing and practicing new material as we prepare for a full length release in 2014.  Please tell your friends and families about us.

Hello Death 

This is a big week for Hello Death.  Here is why.

Thursday, 500 records are scheduled to arrive in Milwaukee from the pressing plant in the Czech Republic.  That evening at 4pm we’ll play live on 88.9 Radio Milwaukee for 414 Music.  Later that evening at 10pm the film Heavy Hands (Dir. Sean Williamson) which features two Hello Death songs from our debut album will screen at Bryant Lake Bowl in Mpls.  

Friday evening we play a set at ACME Records with our friends Dryhouse Ruins.  This will be the first time our vinyl is available to the public and we will probably cry from the emotional release of having worked so hard and waited so long.

Saturday, more crying as we warm up the stage for our friends Volcano Choir at the Pabst Theater.  These will be tears of joy.

After Center Street Daze we’ll be taking the stage at Riverwest Public House with Okerlo and J. Fernandez (Chicago).  This show is only $5 and should start shortly after 9.  We’ll have Compact Discs available.  We hope to see you there.

We now have our album available on compact disc and digital download.  It was recorded mainly at April Base in Fall Creek, Wisconsin in the early spring of 2012.  It was an emotional affair putting to record songs we had been crafting for many months, songs that saw new light and new ideas as we were immersed in the process.  We shook out some dirty rugs.  We drank and ate for a village.  There were tears and some shaky hands, but mostly we were focused.  I believe we captured some of our own sadness, weariness, clarity, and triumph.

I hope you enjoy our effort.  I’m most thankful and indebted to all the great people who helped work on this album, and to all the people supporting us by coming to our shows and listening to our music.  We have many more songs to share.  Hopefully we’ll have vinyl available for our show at the Pabst Theater on September 28th, opening for our friends Volcano Choir.

Hello Death

Trying to stay warm on a cold spring day

We are quite excited to play our first Chicago show at The Hideout, arguably one of the finest venues to see and hear music in the city.  We’ll share the stage with friends Forgotten Species, and former bandmate Brent Puls.  Doors are at 8pm, show starts at 9pm and tickets are $10.  It’ll be great to see all your lovely faces, so please be there.
